Well... as I mentioned earlier in the week, we arrived in Croatia. All I can say is this country is so beautiful and amazing and everything in between. I highly suggest that if any of you that have any money tucked away for a rainy day come here to visit or buy a piece of property here before they join the EU in 2010. You will NOT be disappointed!!
Split was so great, even with the 2hr rain spurt. But I must say, after our 3-4 days of not showering and not sleeping, it caught up with Mary and I. After a long day of haggling with the Hostel lady, shoveling a Croatian burger down our throats, the beach and updating this lovely blog, we headed back to our apartment and decided to take a nap before we headed out for the night, and work up at 9:00 --- THE NEXT MORNING!!
The bus from Split to Dubrovnik was awesome and death defying. Picture driving from San Francisco to San Diego but with clear skies, crystal clear turquoise water crashing against the shoreline and sail boats sprinkled through the Adriatic Sea. WOW!! Also however picture Dale Earnhardt Jr driving the bus like he is in the Daytona 500!! He was passing semi-trucks while other buses where headed straight for us... also keep in mind, we are driving on a cliff! Needless to say, Mary and I were holding on for dear life but enjoying the view at the same time!
Also, during this lovely route, we stopped in Bosnia for a quick rest stop and enjoyed a couple of beers and a ham and cheese sandwich that hit the spot!
Dubrovnik is awesome! We were lucky enough to stay with our friend's mom, Lee. She totally rocks! She took us on this amazing tour of Old City and all around Lapad and made us 2 fabulous dinners! We went to this one little cafe on the cliff of the Old City, Buza. The view from there, wow... i totally picture my mom and dad sitting there for hours! The next 2 days we hit two different beaches with two totally different views, wow.. that is all i can really say right now.. WOW.. The beaches here are great. Unfortunately, the beach is little pebbles not sand but the water is so great. Warm with little fish swimming right at your feet! Unreal!
Last night, Mary and I headed into Old City for a couple of cocktails and managed to crash a Bachelor party! So hysterical! These guys were from England and out for fun! They were decked out in Viking Gear and the Groom-to-be was dressed up like an old viking woman - wig, dress and all! So funny!
Dubrovnik seriously has it all. Amazing views...
Off to Budapest tomorrow morning...
Pics will be up soon!
