Ok... Prague takes the cake!
This city has it all. Completely untouched, delicious food, fantastic scenery, Old Town, and Squares!!! Gosh do I love squares!! Seriously, America needs to have more squares, where cars can't go and people just hang out at cafes and are social with one another...
oh.. and Prague would not be complete without my friend Matt from college!
I had the best time! My first night in Prague, Matt and I went to dinner and walked around Old Town and the Charles Bridge. Beautiful.
Friday, Matt headed off to work and I roamed the town. Played a little metro / tram roulette, seeing the town. It was great. And the best part about my metro roulette was that I found a nail salon so I got a pedicure!! Ahhh.. the little things in life! So, now my feet are happy, as am I! That night we went to this awesome Beer Garden that overlooked the whole town and river. We met up with a few of Matt's friends and then headed out to a White Party at an old Casino on the river. It was really interesting to say the least. I of course, a little low on the white attire, actually wore a black dress with a white sweater around my waist or occasionally wore. I am sure they were all like "Stupid American!" :-) but to my surprise, there were alot of people not in white.. anyway, that is not the point. This party was hysterical! Picture Zoolander times 10 in a Gay Club with techno and a crazy DJ as well as local American Idol Type Pop Stars singing... Crazy.. but lots of fun!
Saturday, we hit the town and the sites, the Castle and this new museum that just opened.. the "L" family, i don't have the spelling in front of me, but anyway, this was incredible. This family had castles, palaces, artwork, music sheets from Mozart and Beethoven - his 5th & 6th Symphony that was dedicated to this family plus tons of other amazing things, all which were taken from them twice and then returned, first from the Nazis and then from the Communists. Anyway, it was absolutely spectacular.
That night we went to this fantastically fun restaurant - there was a keg built into the table and it was just under $20USD for all you can drink and eat. They kept bringing these plates of "Pig" and BBQ Chicken! And the mugs you were drinking out of were liters! it was crazy! Each beer felt like a loaf of bread! So, needless to say, we were full! then we were off- Dance Party USA - So silly i loved it!
Sunday we hit up the Jewish Quarter and Museums. Extremely interesting and heartbreaking. The Jewish Cemetery had tombstones piled on top of each other - gosh, there were so many - and the lawn wasn't manicured - it really couldn't with all the tombs.
That afternoon after decompressing for a little we went for a run in the park where we saw this very peculiar carnival. It was deep in the park, you would barely know it is there, we basically ran into it.. But what was weird is that there was no one there.. completely deserted except for a few workers and music. Very Odd.
That night we had a great dinner and relaxed and i headed out early monday to POLAND. Yes my friends i have switched up the trip a little and i am now in Krakow, Poland then off to Warsaw.
More on that, later.
