From Wacky To Wonderful

Hey All...

So, my last entry was letting you all know how wacky our weekend was... and boy oh boy, was it wacky! But this weekend, was wonderful (even though Billy & Amy could not make it because of the snow).

On Friday, we had a doctor's appointment before Chemo and it went great! Dr. Abou-Alfa informed us that the Chemo is WORKING!! He is calling our last CT scan (from Feb. 15th) a mixed scan because, despite the appearance of new small lesions in mom's liver, older ones have disappeared completely and the cancer has not spread anywhere else or gotten any larger!! so we are beyond thrilled!!

I hope this brightens your Monday as it did our weekend!!

So keep on praying!!

And we are looking forward to seeing you all in less than 3 weeks for St. Patty's Day!!

Much love,
The General

Wacky Weekend!

Wacky Wacky Weekend is all I can say!

Thursday afternoon we took a trip down memory lane, when Jessica Behrer Dixon and her mom, Cindy, who has been close friends with my mom since Marc, Jessica and I since we were toddlers, stopped by for a seriously delicious lunch that Cindy picked up from Cafe Europa in West Islip. (I am giving kudos to this restaurant, because it is FANTASTIC!) We were telling stories from when we were kids, looking at photos and having a great time, especially with Jessica's new baby, Grace, who is ADORABLE!

Earlier that morning, we were asked to come into the city for a routine pain management control appointment at Sloan on 67th and York, which was perfect since Jessica lives on York, we were able to grab a ride in after lunch... poor little Grace was not a happy camper and cried for half the ride... (i think it was because she knew mom and i were going to be leaving her after our drive) :-)

Once we got to Sloan, the appointment was smooth sailing... practically zero waiting time, which is always nice!! however, unbenounced to us, the pain management appointments are at least 24hrs long, so they can monitor the patient and their pain level... Soooo... needless to say, Mom and I were quite surprised to learn that we would be enjoying our Valentine's evening together in Chateau de Sloan... :-) But have no fear all you Pat Griffin Groupies... mom is just fine and we now can check pain management off our list of things to do!

Friday morning, Marc arrived from San Fran and enjoyed a lovely day with us at Sloan before we headed home for the weekend...

On Saturday morning and afternoon, Jenny, Julia and Liam drove up and Sheila took the train out from NYC to enjoy a delicious dinner that Regis, Tyson and Chris Drake whipped up for us and we all had ourselves a little party!! It was alot of fun! We enjoyed many games of Sorry, Go Fish, and Memory as well as great conversation and cheesecake!!

Sunday afternoon Aunt Mary and Aunt Sheila (my mom's sisters) and Cathy McGowan Yoskowitz (our cousin) swung by for an afternoon visit. Wow oh Wow was that fun. We literally laughed all day and enjoyed a yummy lunch and chocolate cake for dessert, which you can tell by the photos, Liam LOVED IT! Mom and her sisters were in giggles and looked at some old photos... and I even got to gush again about my europe trip and share some photos of our long lost relatives in Ireland and canyoning in Switzerland.

Today, well, today we enjoyed doing absolutely nothing!! and with the rain today, it was even more inviting to stay inside!

It was lovely!!

This week, should be pretty pleasant. Mom and Aunt Regis are having a day out on the town tomorrow and then i on Thursday, we are going to enjoy a lovely massage before heading to Chemo on Friday.

As for this weekend, Billy and Amy are coming to visit... fresh from their ski week in France, i can't wait to hear all about it!

Til next week...

Girl's Day

So.. this past Friday we had Chemo... and thank heavens it was a quick and painless day! Last Friday, Mom and Dad were stuck there all day, but for Mom, Jenny and I, we were in and out!! :-) ... then enjoyed a fantastic little lunch at Cucina right across the street in the Chase Plaza... WOW oh WOW... YUMMY!! Then we headed home.

Late friday night, Sheila came out and Saturday we all enjoyed some down time before Jenny headed back to the fam in Annapolis and then mom, Sheila and I got amazing pedicures!!

And the funny thing is, mom and I decided earlier that we would pick one color and we both would use it... so we let Sheila pick the color... she thought she was being so sneaky and funny by picking a HOT PINK color for mom.. little did she know... it was going on her toes, too!!! so, the look on her face was priceless and so funny... and now, we are the new PINK LADIES!!!

Anywhoooo... that is the hysterics that have happened so far this week... we are having a few guests this week and Marc is flying in for the weekend and Jenny and the kids are coming up, too...

soooo.. i will have MUCH MORE to report next week!

til then.....

Super Bowl Madness

This past weekend was the Super Bowl ... and ya all know that mom and dad are the CRAZIEST Football fans in the world... hee hee... JK... so... to celebrate the big game... they let me work a celebrity event that took me all the way to Phoenix and to the game... wahooo!! (best game!!-- and i was 13 rows up from the endzone!!)

They enjoyed Sunday afternoon catching up with Sheila and her boyfriend, Charlie... who knows if the TV was even on...! :-) The afternoon was great... with homemade ziti and great conversation!

Earlier this week our lovely cousins Ned and Margaret Mary Murphy stopped by for a lovely lunch and a chill session... it was alot of fun and the all the Murphs compared stories and had a grand ole time.

Jenny is in route and Sheila is coming out for the weekend, too... so this will be a fun weekend...

We have Chemo bright and early tomorrow... but all is well on the home front.

Hope all is well with you...

St. Patty's Day is still on! So keep on practicing those songs!!

Love

Rachel
